The Bible tells us in several places that God answers prayer. Here's one of them: I John 5:14, "This is the confidence which we have before him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." But I've been wresting with this idea of unanswered prayer this week.

I found this online and it is cool! Focus on a different character of God each day of the month!

TRAFFIC TEACHES CULTURAL LESSONS It has taken me six months to find words to describe Lima traffic. And in my search, I have learned a lot about the culture through observing this amazing site.Chaotic, yet intentional and okay because everybody knows it and is crazy too. Three lane streets quickly become five. Though there might be two lanes, a driver might just go down the center. And crossing into oncoming traffic to pass—done often.Everybody understands each other. Drivers have to be both very aggressive and very defensive. The two speeds are go very fast and stop quickly. You see everyone on the bus, from the well-dressed business executive to the mother and baby going to a market. But somehow it all works. I’ve already decided I will never drive here. For one, I’m simply not aggressive enough or crazy enough. Also when a bus costs about 30 cents and a taxi from $1-3, it just makes more sense rather than put one more vehicle on the already-crowded Lima streets. To get on a bus, you just raise your hand or even make eye contact with the driver. To get off anywhere, you just say “getting off on the corner” or at the curve or at the Chinese restaurant, etc. So here are some of my major learnings from time spent in public transportation. |
